Restoration Menin Gate Memorial

Menenpoort-360x200
  • Works start April 2023 and last about 2 years.
  • There are no structural problems with the structure. The nature of the works is to protect the Menin Gate from long-term damage. It mainly involves erosion and minor damage.
  • To ensure the safety of visitors, the Menin Gate will be placed in scaffolding.
The Menin Gate will therefore not be accessible during the works.
  • A pedestrian tunnel will provide a smooth connection to and from the city.
  • The Last Post will continue daily at 8pm.
  • It will also remain possible to lay a wreath during the ceremony. Wreaths are available in the shop of Tourism Ypres in the Cloth Hall.
You can also order an ecological wreath through the CWGC Vistior Centre.
  • Looking up names is not physically possible during the works.
However, there is an alternative to do so at the CWGC Visitor Centre, near the Menin Gate.
    (Menenstraat 33 - Ypres)
  • The bus parking lot near the Menin Gate will be retained.
