Field of Remembrance

For the past few years, The Royal British Legion has been planting thousands of red artificial poppies on the grass field next to the Menin Gate prior to Armistice day.

Each poppy carries a personal message from supporters of The Royal British Legion, to say thank you to the First World War generation.

The poppies will be planted on the 6th and 7th of November by local school children and volunteers and members of The Royal British Legion .

There will be a dedication service on the 8th of November at 11:00.
The field will then stay in place till Christmas 2019.

There will be poppies available on site during the planting and from The Royal British Legion shop on the Market Square, to allow people to write their own messages should they wish.
